History

The San Yama Bushi Ryu and San Yama Bushi School of Judo and Ju-Jutsu was formally introduced in 1985 by Shihan Hector Negron. Shihan Negron, started his martial arts training in Puerto Rico at the age of 12 studying Karate. In 1971, at the age of 19 he moved from Puerto Rico to the Bronx, New York. After visting a number of schools, he found the Tremont School of Judo and Ju-Jutsu and Shinan Pereira. There, he started studying Judo and Ju-Jutsu while continuing to train in Karate. Within two years he obtained his black belt in Ju-Jutsu and began teaching Ju-Jutsu at the school, soon after becoming the lead Ju-Jutsu instructor. He also obtained his black belt in Judo and became an active judo competitor. In 1981 he obtained the rank of Kaiden, Head Instructor of the Ryu (equivalent to 9th / 10th Dan) in Miyama Ryu Ju-Jutsu.

In 1985 Shihan Negron opened his own school, the San Yama Bushi School of Judo and Ju-Jutsu located in Mount Vernon New York. After 12 successful years in Mount Vernon, He moved his school to a larger location in New Rochelle. Currently Shihan Negron holds the rank of Kaiden in Miyama Ryu Ju-Jutsu and the title of Shinan, founder of the Ryu in San Yama Bushi Ryu Ju-Jutsu. He is also a fourth Dan in Judo under the United States Judo Federation.
